Marcie Owen serves as regional FCS program support for the West Region to implement externally funded projects focused on cancer prevention, risk reduction, and early detection. Marcie will coordinate and assist program support for Extension agents, helping them with Walk Across Texas, Towards No Tobacco, Balance Food and Play, Cultivando la Salud, and Hallelujah to Health. She will also serve as a resource for health fairs, summer safety camps, community presentations, Students Winning against Tobacco Leadership Lab, and other programs focused on cancer prevention, risk reduction, and early detection.

Marcie earned a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation and a master’s degree in occupational and adult education from Oklahoma State University. She also holds teaching certifications in elementary education grades one through eight, and pre-kindergarten through high school certification in special education, math and English as a second language. Marcie taught school for ten years. Prior to joining as an Extension Assistant, she served as a health specialist for coordinated school health programs with Shannon Medical Center.
