Judith L. Warren is Associate Director for Human Sciences. She holds a M.S. and Ph.D. in Education from Syracuse University, receiving a Dissertation Fellowship from the All-University Gerontology Center and a B.S. degree in Home Economics from Virginia Tech.
As an Extension specialist since 1981, Dr. Warren has developed statewide educational training and programs on caregiving to frail elders, on long-term care selection and policy, and on mental health and health concerns of older adults and their families. She was principal investigator for an Administration on Aging grant to train county Extension agents to implement the Minority Peer Educator Project. She is the author of Community-Determined Health-Related Needs from the 1995–1999 Long Range Extension Program. She served as Principle Investigator of a community capacity-building project with 21 Area Agencies on Aging, the Department of Aging and Disabilities Services, Texas A&M University, and Cornell University to plan for Baby Boomer Aging in Texas.
Dr. Warren has presented papers at the Gerontological Society of America, the American Society on Aging, the South West Society on Aging, the Texas Rural Health Association, and other professional meetings and has served on state and national task forces related to aging population and health issues. In 1995, she was awarded the Texas AgriLife Extension Service’s highest honor, the Superior Service Award. In 1996, she received the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension and Continuing Education. Dr. Warren is a member of the 1999 class of Leadership Texas. She currently serves on the Extension Committee on Policy – Leadership Advisory Council.
