Dr. Joyce Cavanagh is an Associate Professor and Extension Family Economics Specialist with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M System. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Missouri – Columbia in Consumer and Family Economics, and a B.S. in Home Economics Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. In addition to Texas, she has served as an Extension specialist in Missouri and New Hampshire.

Dr. Cavanagh’s work focuses on family financial management, workforce development, financial literacy for youth, and financial security in later life. She holds membership in the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), the Texas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service Specialists’ Association. Joyce is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and as President-Elect of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service Specialists’ Association. In her “spare” time, Joyce volunteers with Girl Scouts as Product Sales Manager for Bryan troops and the AARP Tax-Aide Program where she is an instructor and volunteer tax preparer.
