Josefa Peña manages the Texas Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) project funded by the Department of State Health Services. She provides guidance on the development of educational resources, which includes research, development, and distribution of practical subject matter to county Extension agents and the families of Texas. These resources prepare Texas families for disasters, either man-made or naturally occurring.

In 2003, Josefa moved to College Station from her hometown of Fort Worth. She acquired a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the School of Rural Public Health at Texas A&M University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Josefa currently is the Project Manager in Emergency Preparedness for the Family Development and Resource Management Unit.
