Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Passenger Safety Grant (TxDOT)
Laura Dean-Mooney is a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Specialist. Her specialty is drunk-driving prevention and underage-drinking reduction.
Dean-Mooney’s past experience includes over 20 years of impaired driving and underage drinking programming prevention in both Texas and Florida. Serving as National President of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) from 2008–2011 gave Laura the opportunity to educate millions of people through speaking engagements, as well as television and radio appearances. She was selected as a 2009 recipient of the National PTA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of devoted and distinguished services to children and youth. In 2012, Texas A&M Women Former Students’ Network presented her with their Legacy Award for her accomplishments, which have had an impact on future generations of Aggie women.
Since joining AgriLife Extension in 2011, she has worked to support and extend awareness of the importance of preventing impaired driving by providing articles for county Extension agents, as well as serving as part of the team that presents programs at the request of county Extension agents. She also established the Bryan-College Station DWI Law Enforcement Advisory Group in 2011.
Laura received her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University.
