Extension Program Specialist, Better Living for Texans Program
As the Program Coordinator for Better Living for Texans (BLT), a statewide Food Stamp Nutrition Education program, Jon Perrott works to provide educational programs aimed at those who are food insecure or at risk of becoming food insecure. The primary focus of BLT programs are preparing nutritious meals, managing food dollars, storing foods safely, and improving overall diet quality, which includes physical activity.
Jon brings a wealth of knowledge in working with limited resource audiences and persons from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Prior to joining the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in October 2006, Jon served for six years as a Program Manager with the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency in California. There, Jon spent four years managing the Food Stamp, Medi-Cal, and Cash Aid programs and two years overseeing the operations of the county’s public health laboratory, pharmacy, dental clinic, and X-ray clinic.
Jon’s educational background includes a B.A. degree from the University of California – Berkeley and a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A) from California State University (Hayward campus).
